The far north end of our water
Englewood sits at the top of our map. It is the northern edge of the 13 communities we cover, and reaching it means a long barge run up the coast. We make that run. The job at the other end is the same job we do at home: pilings driven from the water, the dock built off your seawall, the owner there to walk it with you.
Lemon Bay is protected water, an aquatic preserve, with the Intracoastal Waterway running straight through it and Stump Pass as the local route out to the Gulf. That mix decides what a dock here has to live with. The bay knocks down the worst of the open Gulf, but the tide still moves and the Waterway still sends boats past your pilings all day.
Homes up here sit on the bayfront or on canals feeding the bay, and the two age a dock a little differently. Either way, the barge comes to you. Nothing heavy crosses your yard, and your lawn and sprinkler lines stay the way we found them.

What Lemon Bay water asks of a dock
Protected, never still
A preserve bay behaves like one: no open-Gulf fetch hammering your pilings. What it does have is real tide. The water climbs and drops your pilings every day, and that wet-dry cycling at the waterline is what quietly kills them. So the waterline is the first place we look.
The Waterway runs past
The Intracoastal cuts right through the bay, and boats work it all day, including everything headed out through Stump Pass. Wake is a load like any other load. It backs fasteners out, rocks a lift cradle and finds every lazy connection. Bay docks want honest piling depth and hardware that stays tight.
Salt and sun are patient
This is salt water under Florida sun, and neither is in a hurry. Barnacles and borers work the pilings below the surface while the sun cooks the boards above it. Wraps answer the first half, decking and fastener choices answer the second, and a dock given neither ages fast.
